Mette Colberg’s artistic exploration delves into transparency from both a material and immaterial standpoint. Her fascination lies in the paradox of transparent glass—the material’s simultaneous presence and absence—which grants it the power to transcend spaces and shift perspectives.
Driven by a desire to investigate the interplay between transparency and perception, Colberg utilizes handcrafted glass lenses and photography to create abstract photographic and sculptural compositions that present fractured, multifaceted viewpoints. Her work proposes an alternative logic and invites the viewer to reflect on their own perspective and context.
Since 2006, Mette Colberg’s pieces have been exhibited both nationally and internationally. She was chosen to represent Denmark at the European Glass Context in 2016 and again in 2021.
